This one's sure to piss some people off! But that's too bad for them. Hawaiian Pizza Nachos are fire! Some people just can't get down with pineapple on pizza for whatever reason. Well we're gonna take their intolerance to a whole new level. Today (the date of this initial publication) is Feb 9, 2019 -- and it's National Pizza Day! So, let's celebrate accordingly with this Hawaiian Pizza style nacho dish. I think this would make residents of the 50th state sorta proud. Or maybe they're shaking their heads in shame... If you're in Hawaii and you're reading this, please let me know if you approve.
*whiny voice of your triggered friend on Facebook* "But dude, pineapple on nachos? Noooo"
Anyway, down to business: This is a pretty easy recipe! The ham we used on this one was a little leftover holiday ham, like a whole pre-cooked thing that we had in the fridge for a day or two. Cutting that up, or using a thinner lunch-meat type would work just the same. Also, we didn't have a tomato base / pizza sauce laying around for this one but I think that'd be a great touch to have on the base layer of this recipe.
In any case, please do enjoy the recipe, take pictures & tag @nachos on Instagram for a chance to be featured on our feed!

Hawaiian Pizza Style Nachos
Ingredients
- 12 ounces of tortilla chips
- 1/3 cup ham slices
- 1 cup tomato sauce (or specialty pizza sauce) optional, spread underneath or into base layer of chips
- 1/2 cup red onion sliced in large pieces
- 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella or whatever you prefer
- 1/2 cup canned pineapple diced, if it isn't already
- 1 jalapeno sliced {optional}
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Scatter chips in a single layer over aluminum foil coated baking pan/sheet and sprinkle thin layer of cheese over chips. Optionally, add pizza sauce (tomato sauce w/ spices)
- Add ham, red onion, jalapeno and pineapple over chips. Add more cheese for good measure if you're not as lactose intolerant as me.
- Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until cheese melts.
- Serve with napkins, and photograph the dish! Post on Facebook for an inevitable argument in the comments section with someone you hardly know who despises pineapple for some odd reason.
